Maria João Ribeiro - Recurve - Team PRT

I started shooting when I was 16, 24 years ago. For many years, and many times, I represented Portugal in the National team, progressing from junior to senior. I still hold some national records done on those years (table below) and I am the only woman in Portugal (and one of the two people in total) that achieved the 1300 points mark in a FITA round with 1301 points.

In 2012 I had to reduce my daily practice time, because my twin sons were born and needed my attention. Now they are 6 years old, already in school, and I started to practice more again. Currently, at the national level, I am Outdoor Vice-Champion and Indoor Champion on Women Recurve, and Champion on both of the mixed team events. Also this season I already set a new record in a Hunter competition, IFAA rules. I always prioritize the target competitions, but sometimes I "play around" on the IFAA competitions, because it's good practice and always helps me understand my shooting and enhance my body awareness.
